After a hugely successful bank holiday weekend of festivities in Royal Greenwich, the Tall Ships fleet have headed down the iconic River Thames and made their way towards Torbay for the official start of Race 1 of the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta.
Each vessel and her crew enjoyed a few days of coastal sailing, learning the ropes and getting settled into life on board before the race began on Wednesday 19 April.
This exciting 850 nautical mile race across the English Channel, the famous Bay of Biscay, and the beautiful Portuguese coast has got of to an exciting start with Rona II (UK) and Peter von Danzig (Germany) battling it out at the front of the pack. Head over to our blog page for daily race updates.
